If you are there at all. In this blog I will be sharing a part of my daughter’s journey as a young tennis player and how hypnosis can be a powerful tool to treat confidence issues in performance. As I said my daughter plays tennis at a competitive level, and recently, she confided her doubts about becoming a champion.

The following Shakespeare quote came to my mind:

“Our Doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt”

But knowing that doesn’t always make it easy to navigate either as a woman for myself evolving through my own confidence challenges or a parent for my child in the midst of hers or for as a hypnotherapist working with actors or athletes experiencing doubt or injury.

As a parent, I strive to be as honest as I can whilst also creating a supportive environment for my dautghter’s dreams. I still write letters from fairies in the hope of instilling some magic and wonder.

As a hypnotherapist, I have been privileged to have witnessed the transformative power of hypnosis in helping individuals overcome their doubts and fears. I have used love and positive intention to step into a healing state. And something imparted to me by Freddy Jacquin but coined by Milton Erickson that has since having heard it been my guiding light are the following words:

“One thing I’m certain of, I can keep my doubts to myself,” I embrace the belief that doubts are a natural part of growth and self-awareness.

What this means is as a hypnotherapist it is our duty to protect our client from out doubts that they can improve. We must have faith that they can become more confident or recover from an injury as without this belief we are impeding their potential for healing and growth. This is no less true when dealing with your child.

Acknowledging Doubts:

Of course off loading your doubts or sharing them does not mean the person experiencing doubt must deny or suppress them. On the contrary, it’s essential to acknowledge and understand our doubts. Doubts often stem from past experiences, perceived knowledge, or the fear of failure. They can be convincing and challenging to overcome. However, by recognizing and embracing doubts, we can use them as stepping stones towards growth and improvement particularly when dealing with a crisis of confidence in performance.

The Role of Hypnosis:

Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can help individuals address confidence issues in performance. 3. Positive affirmations: Repeat positive affirmations daily to reinforce self-belief and counteract negative self-talk. Affirmations such as “I am confident and capable in my performance” can rewire your subconscious mind.

4. Breathing exercises: Practice deep breathing exercises to calm nerves and center yourself before performances. Deep breaths help reduce anxiety and increase focus.
