Introduction:

Confidence is a vital ingredient for success in every aspect of our lives. Whether it’s pursuing a new career, building relationships, or overcoming challenges, our level of confidence significantly impacts our ability to achieve our goals. When I first became a hypnotherapist, I had an idea that I would like to work helping people improve their confidence, because this is an area where I have both thrived and suffered with. What I have discovered since working with a lot of clients to grow their confidence is it’s far more effective if clients come with a specific goal in mind.

Yes we would all like more confidence, but confidence to do what?

 One of the reasons why I stayed in a teaching job for as long as I did was because I fundamentally lacked the confidence to believe I could do anything else. Before I was a teacher I had written books, plays and comedy for radio which I’d also performed, so it is strange to look back now and see the extent to which I lost my confidence, and yet I did.

I now view it as fortunate that my breakdown of confidence was so serious that it resulted in anxiety and panic and eventually led to an extended period of insomnia so that I was forced to seek a hypnotherapist near me for help.

It hadn’t been my goal to go to a hypnotherapist to improve my confidence so that I could get a new job but that’s what ended up in happening. During my own journey overcoming insomnia I was inadvertently put on a path that would change my life and lead me to becoming a hypnotherapist.

And as a hypnotherapist I see incredible things happening to people all the time.

We don’t always experience a lack of confidence in such an extreme way but when we do, finding ourselves at a particularly low point can be a gift, a herald for change.

Regardless as to whether you’re experience a crisis of confidence or a low such as I described in your mental well-being, it’s common for individuals to experience moments of self-doubt or lack of confidence, which can hinder progress.
